SEMANTIC FEATURES OF NATIVE WORDS IN V. RADLOV’S DICTIONARY

Abstract

The article discusses the native words from the dictionary of V. Radlov «The experience of the dictionary of Turkic adverbs». In the course of the study, the general vocabulary of Kazakh words and Turkic languages was identified, a comparative analysis was carried out. The use of these words in the modern Kazakh literary language was determined, semantic differences were demonstrated. V. Radlov’s dictionary includes as much as possible the Turkic languages and dialects of that period. In particular, there is a large vocabulary of Kazakh, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Bashkir, Yakut, Altai, Karaite, Chulym, Shor, Uighur, Khakass, Tatar languages. The author systematically pointed out the phonetic, semantic differences of the same word in different Turkic languages in the register.The use of words of the Kazakh language of that period is presented in the article on specific examples and compared with the modern Kazakh language. Based on Radlov’s dictionary, it is analyzed that a number of lexical units have undergone semantic changes during the dynamic development of the language. It is well known that lexicographic parameters contained in any dictionary are the main indicator of the quality of this dictionary. V. Radlov’s dictionary systematically and clearly presents phonetic, grammatical, semantic parameters. This feature allows to get deep information from the structure of the Turkic languages. The author proposed not only individual words, but also phrases and phraseological units. This contributes to the correct definition of the history of the language and the etymology of words.
