This article analyzes narrative strategies and intertextual connections in the works of Aigul Kemelbayeva, a prominent representative of contemporary Kazakh literature. The research focuses on the novel Munara as well as the short stories The Birth of Er Tostik and Shashty. The theoretical framework is based on narratological and postmodern concepts developed by G.Genette, J.-F.Lyotard, R. Barthes, B.McHale, W.Schmid, J.Alber, and P.Dawson.
The aim of the study is to identify the artistic function of metanarrative structures in the author’s prose and to determine their role in the poetics of the text. In contemporary literary discourse, the growing complexity of narrative levels and the strengthening of authorial reflection highlight the relevance of metanarrative issues. The analysis examines metanarrative structures, the interaction between historical reality and mythological space, and interprets literary texts through a narratological lens.
The results show that Kemelbayeva’s works represent a complex artistic system reflecting the principles of postmodern poetics. It is demonstrated that by synthesizing national codes with global cultural paradigms, the author constructs a new metanarrative model.
The scientific significance of the study lies in the systematic examination of metanarrative in modern Kazakh prose and in providing a new theoretical interpretation of the structural features of the author’s works.
