Abstract

This article examines the study of Kazakh personal names. Socio-demographic factors play a significant role in the formation of anthroponyms. To determine this, an analysis of family names was conducted. Anthroponyms, as a form of onomastics, are closely linked to many disciplines. In this regard, socio-demographic factors in the names of individuals living in a society (family) determine the identity, traditions, and customs of a particular people in anthroponym formation.

The purpose of this article is to identify personal names that characterize significant traits in society and family and individualize a person, classify them according to the socio-demographic characteristics preserved in their names, determine their psychological motivations, identify patterns of similarity between names of family members, analyze them, develop a scientific basis, and systematize them.

Research methods: statistical method, comparative method, etymological analysis, component (semantic) analysis.

The study was conducted in a lexical-semantic and cognitive direction. The socio-demographic characteristics of anthroponyms are clearly evident when analyzing the names of members of the same family.

The practical significance of this article lies in the fact that its main results can be used in theoretical courses such as lexicology, onomastics, cultural linguistics, and sociolinguistics, as well as in seminars on the practical teaching of the Kazakh language.
