Abstract

The article examines occasional substantivities in Abai's poems. Occasional words have already been mentioned and studied in our language. However, occasional substantivities are a topic that has not yet been studied. Abai's legacy is an invaluable treasure of the Kazakh people. Despite ongoing scientific research related to Abai's work, they are still insufficient for the Kazakh reader. Abai is a figure who enriched language usage by transforming the Kazakh word, using it both literally and figuratively. Therefore, this article examines the area of use of occasional substantivities in Abai's poems, and also conducts a detailed analysis of them. Occasionalisms are words characteristic of individual authorial use. Substantivities are lexical units that have become nouns. Although the phenomenon of substantivization in Kazakh linguistics has already been studied to a certain extent, its theoretical basis and terminology are still underdeveloped. In this article, the term "substantivat" is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The grammatical and lexical meanings of substantivats were also determined and it was revealed whether they are occasional or normative. A word-formation analysis of substantivats in Abai's poems was conducted, it was shown that they move into the category of nouns from adjectives, verbs, numerals, metaphorical expressions and set phrases.
