Abstract

The paper deals with the issues concerning Kazakh terminology. The conclusions about the origin and formation of terms of such scientists-linguists as Akhmet Baitursynov, Kudaibergen Zhubanov, Nygmet Sauranbaev, Sarsen Amanzholov, Abduali Kaidarov, Maulen Balakaev, Shora Sarybaev, Seilbek Isayev, Umirzak Aitbaev, Sherubai Kurmanbayuly are generalised and systematised. The use of subject terms, their modern meaning and ways of formation are analysed in the works of Alash leaders. As a branch of linguistics, terminology deals with current issues of language in any era. Social structure, social consciousness, public attitudes, historical events, scientific and technological progress and other changes have a significant impact on language. Therefore, the change of term-words is a natural phenomenon. The study showed which subject terms in Magzhan Zhumabayev's work “Pedagogy” are actively used today, and which ones have lost their productivity based on analysing the directions of their change. The peculiarities of the use of words related to the unit of measurement are revealed. Thus, the systematic study of terminology in the works of Alash leaders is one of the topical issues of terminology.
