The article examines the metatextual dimensions of metapoetics based on the works of A.Kunanbayuly. The aim of this research is to identify manifestations of metapoetics by determining metatextual dimensions in the poet's poems. In the article, the authors propose an effective method for analysing the relationship between metatext and metapoetics based on the text of a specific work and differentiate the features of the poet's metapoetics. It has been proven that A.Kunanbayuly's works actively reflect metapoetic units, according to which the need for metapoetic analysis is relevant not only in Kazakh literary studies, but also in the presentation of the essence of national culture and philosophy. The methodology of our work is based on the conclusions of Fr. Schlegel on metatext and K.E.Stein on metapoetics. The material for the research was the poem “I do not compose poetry for amusement” by A.Kunanbayuly. This is because A. Kunanbayuly skilfully used in his poetry a model of internal vision of the art of words, the power of poetry, the poetic function of language and poeticism. The results of the research show that the metatext of the poet's poems is the main source in the study of his metapoetics. In addition, metapoetic analysis proves that this is a rational approach to understanding metatext and authorial reflection. The theoretical information in the article and the implemented analysis model reflect the scientific and practical significance of the research work. It is also expected that this research will make a significant contribution to the development of metapoetic studies in Kazakh literary studies.
