Abstract

The article analyzes the cognitive linguocultural features of the concept «time» in Kazakh linguistic consciousness. The study aims to identify characteristics of time conceptualization in the Kazakh worldview and substantiate its semantic fields based on linguistic data.

The research identifies conceptual fields including «time as movement», «time as history», «time as transience», «time as hope» and «time as human life». These fields are analyzed through semantic, axiological, and cultural dimensions using linguistic evidence from Kazakh proverbs, sayings, and phraseological units.

Within the field of «time as movement» time is conceptualized as a continuous and uninterrupted flow. In the field of «time as history» it is closely associated with the historical memory of the nation and the experience of different epochs. The field of «time as transience» reveals the irreversible and fleeting nature of time, while «time as hope» reflects linguistic representations of expectation, patience, and faith in the future. The field of «time as human life» considers time as a measure of the human life course.

The findings demonstrate that the concept of «time» in Kazakh linguistic consciousness has a multilayered structure enriched with historical, cultural, and value-based meanings, contributing to research in cognitive linguistics, linguocultural studies, and conceptology.
