The names of national traditional clothing of the Turkic peoples reflect traces of their ethnic history, ancient traditions, and specific features arising from the natural-geographical and socio-cultural environment in which they live, as well as from their main economic activities. These names also convey the aesthetic preferences, applied arts (embroidery, weaving, jewelry-making, etc.), and even the influence of neighboring peoples’ clothing culture. Accordingly, in the nominative-motivational basis and naming models of clothing, alongside common Turkic elements, there are unique characteristics that reveal the originality of each people’s ethnic culture.
This article examines the names of headdress and their types, which are considered to have a high semantic status, as well as lexical units related to decorating and adorning headdress. The analysis is carried out from lexical-semantic and linguocultural perspectives. The names of headdress are explored as ethnocultural codes that link the mythological worldview, traditions, aesthetic values, and sacred-symbolic world of the Turkic peoples with the culturally symbolic potential of the national language
